Natural Life proceeds in three stages, from dream to nightmare to phantasmagoria. Bower's adaptation of Marcus Clarke's classic "For the Term of His Natural Life" was the springboard for further devising during the rehearsal period. The final production was an expressionist rendering of Australian history and historiography.
The show was first performed at The Queen's Theatre as part of The Adelaide Festival of the Arts (24 February - 14 March).
