KATERINA STATHIS / Composition & Sound Design

Katerina Stathis (she/her) is a multi-instrumentalist and composer. Her synthesiser sound palate draws from her extensive interest and appreciation for acoustic instrumental timbres combined with highly visceral electronic evocations. Fusing timbres of western classical and electronic music, she uses temporal identity as part of her works inviting listeners into sound worlds echoing past, present and possible futures.

In addition to a catalogue of solo work, Katerina’s collaborations include Robin Fox, Lucy Guerin Inc., Madeleine Flynn, Tim Humphrey and Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio.  Recent solo works include OPUS MESS an eight-channel diffusion piece for MESS’s Sonorous VII series and ECDYSIS: A WORK FOR SOLO MODULAR SYNTHESISER, presented at ‘Tangles: New Modular Music’ curated by Robin Fox.

She is one third of the composer collective STATHIS/DAVEY/KIM and one sixth of the electro acoustic ensemble GOLDEN SANDS.

“So much of what I do as a composer can live in a very solitary space, so it’s wonderful to be given the opportunity to experience the richness of knowledge that a team of highly experienced creative personnel will offer. I’m really looking forward to the collaborations that will evolve and deepening my understanding of how composition and sound elevate the humanist nuances of the live theatre experience.” - Katerina Stathis

COREY SAYLOR-BRUNSKILL / Writing

Corey Saylor-Brunskill (he/him) a mere mortal, born of flesh and blood and brought up in the distant lands of Tasmania/Lutrawita. And around 20 years ago decided he decided he longed to become a thespian. Now based in Naarm/Melbourne, as the dream seemed harder to reach on The Isle.

Since making his way to “the mainland” Big Apple, he has kept up the good fight, performed in multiple main stage productions, some you may have heard of, such as CONVERSATIONS WITH THE DEAD, BIG NAME NO BLANKET and VIRAL (ILBIJERRI Theatre Company) as well as WHOSE GONNA LOVE EM (A Daylight Connection, in association with Malthouse Theatre), even travelled back to Tasmania to part take in Nathan Maynard and Rob Braslin’s THE BOX (Mudlark Theatre Theatre) and more recently was able to be part of HOUSE ARREST as part of Yirramboi 2025.

Corey is also an avid maker of music under the rather bonkers MC name Torres Green, and recently completed a Masters in Theatre Writing at Victoria’s College of The Arts.

“I feel so grateful to be accepted into this program... Malthouse Theatre is the mecca of experimental theatre in Naarm outside of the parameters of "Blak Theatre"... I hope that I can bring our worlds together even more so, by using this opportunity to drive me to keep telling experimental Blak Theatre, in my own way” - Corey Saylor-Brunskill

The Artists will participate in a series of workshop sessions led by a range of industry practitioners, designed to strengthen their artistic practice and expand their professional networks and understanding of mainstage operations. Each of the four creatives will undertake a placement on a Malthouse production during the current season, working as an Assistant Creative. This placement provides hands-on experience and the opportunity to observe and upskill in the processes behind the making of a mainstage production. The Writing placements will work closely with the New Work team to develop a new theatrical text or project, with access to company resources and ongoing feedback.
