Small Sound (Andrew James) (Quandamooka) is a multi-form, multi-instrumentalist composer who has collaborated, created, and performed original sound designs for dance, film, and theatre, including but not limited to A Daylight Connection, Farmwalker Films, Blackbox Media, Human Sacrifice and ILBIJERRI Theatre Company. He has collaborated with Kamarra on numerous works including her award-winning work, Whose Gonna Love Em? I am that i AM (2022 FCAC/ILBIJIERRI 2023 Malthouse) and is lead set and sound designer on A Daylight Connection’s other acclaimed works Chase (2022/23 Malthouse) and A Nightime Travesty (Yirramboi 2023). Both his sound and set designs are informed by the magic of scientific creation. He is particularly interested in site specific live scores interpreting and responding to performance as it is created and the inclusion of sacred geometry and space in his set design.
