By Phil Sumner, Jan McDonald & Greg Sneddon
13 May 1988 – 28 May 1988 Union Theatre
Playbox Theatre Company, Next Wave Festival,
Theatre Musical Co-Production
A rock musical for young people about young people.
Riff Raff the energetic Australian rock musical that launched Men at Work onto the professional circuit in 1978 is back, bigger and better than ever before.
Sporting a new name and featuring additional songs, an updated storyline and an exciting new talent line-up Riff Raff: the Re-mix will burst onto the Union Theatre stage at Melbourne University under the auspices of the Playbox Theatre Company as part of the 1988 Next Wave Festival.
From the upbeat studio of KAOS FM and the corridors of Buckley Park High School to the reverberating dance floor of Spinner's Nightclub, this rollicking musical traces the problems, frustrations and hopes of four teenagers living in the 1980; but it never strays from its inherent sense of the comic.
