From the press release:

"It is 1916 and Charlie Chaplin, aged 26, is travelling from Los Angeles to New York to finalise a major movie contract which will secure his future. In reality this journey was to lead to success beyond his wildest dreams.

"On the train with him is a tramp, a genuine one as opposed to the lovable tramp Chaplin immortalised on film and which the world took to heart; Isadora, a femme fatale; and the train waiter, a would-be movie star.

"Throughout the journey Chaplin seems to be haunted by the tramp. How does a mere beggar pose a threat to a celebrity like Chaplin? Inextricably linked with a past which Chaplin cannot escape, does the tramp trigger memories which Chaplin chooses to forget? Certainly those memories are the inspiration for much of his unique comedy.

"The Tramp's Revenge unites biographical fact with fantasy to lay bare the essence of Chaplin's comic genius. In the best traditions of a Chaplin movie, the hilarious is mixed with the bitter-sweet in a sentimental pastiche that will engage the heart."
