The Threepenny Opera (2010)

By Bertolt Brecht & Kurt Weill

28 May 2010 – 19 June 2010 Merlyn Theatre

Malthouse Theatre, Victorian Opera,

Classic Theatre Opera Co-Production

The most notorious anti-hero to storm a stage, Mac (The Knife) is the original city crim who's never met a law, a woman or a cop he couldn't break - but when he challenges the supremacy of the Beggar King and his empire of manufactured woes, the fallout threatens to tear the town apart.

Director, Michael Kantor and text adaptor, Raimondo Cortese discover in The Threepenny Opera a world uncannily true to our own - where moralities are gambled by the powerful, and corruption is code for survival among the downtrodden.
