James Jackson is a Melbourne-based theatre director, producer and educator. His work spans contemporary adaptation, new writing and politically charged ensemble performance. James is the Creative Producer of popular theatre ensemble, Bloomshed.
For Malthouse Theatre, James has appeared in PRIDE & PREJUDICE. Other theatre credits include ANIMAL FARM, PARADISE LOST, BAD NEWS, THE NOSE and THE MARKET (Bloomshed). Outside of Bloomshed, he has worked as a dramaturg and production manager across independent, national and international productions including THEATRE OF SPEED (Back to Back Theatre) and works with the National Theatre of Croatia, Rijeka.
James’ work with Bloomshed has earned him multiple Green Room Awards including two for Outstanding Production in Independent Theatre; Outstanding Direction for Independent Theatre (Paradise Lost) and further nominations for Oustanding New Writing, Design and Ensemble.
James is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (Dramaturgy).
